This time of the year is not only exciting for teams and players, but for scouts and college coaches. Of course, names that several have already heard are on display throughout the country but one of the best things about the April period is finding those late bloomers or undiscovered talents.

Well, we have one for you here in 6’6 2021 Treyvon Byrd from NC Ice.

The young prospect has made a name for himself for Phenom Hoop Report over the past year or so and solidified himself once again after watching him this past weekend at the Phenom Queen City Showcase, where he easily posted games of 35, 29 and 27 points for his team.

He walks onto the floor and immediately grabs one’s attention with his length but then can blow you away with his versatility, his skillset, and his ability to do so much more on the court.

Here is what some of our scouts said about him after the Phenom Queen City Showcase:

“He is a high-flying wing who attacks the rims with a purpose. Byrd showed comfort on the ball, he has upside as a defender and he had no less than 5 jaw-dropping dunks, both in traffic and transition. Recruitment should start at mid-level and it could grow from there. TONS to like here.”

“The long, wiry forward was tremendous for most of this contest, especially considering how much he affected the two-way action. Byrd rebounded the ball really well and was able to push transition play whenever he desired, which led to an abundance of fast break points. He handles the ball pretty well for his size and is capable of making quality passes to open teammates. Byrd is still truly only beginning to tap into his upside.”

That does sum it up, as Byrd has the potential to be a huge breakout performer in the coming months. He is that long, wiry prospect that covers so much on the court and one that can be used at multiple positions. He has shown that he can play with the ball in his hands, using his frame to his advantage and finishing on opponents’ heads.

He tremendous wingspan helps also on the defensive end, being disruptive inside and out. Everything he brings to the table screams D1 player.

What some people would say is that he is simply a playmaker and a tough one to stop offensively. Averaging over 30 ppg game at the Phenom QC Showcase, Byrd impressed all the scouts on deck and with his recruitment being low as of right now, this is a young man college coaches should be jumping on immediately to watch, along with several other prospects NC Ice has to offer.

NC Ice will be in action in Spartanburg, SC on April 26-28, so make sure to get out and catch Byrd in action. Trust us, you will be impressed.
