For a player that misses significant time on the court, it is always interesting to see how they may bounce back especially after a significant injury.

When one misses the entire HS basketball season, the summer becomes even more important, not only for coaches but especially for the player so they can see where their games measure up.

2021 6'0 Jamarii Thomas of New Light Disciples/ Piedmont Classical was one of those players this summer.' After missing an entire season due to a significant injury, Thomas was hoping to show just exactly what he was capable of doing on the court.

At several Phenom Hoops events this summer, Thomas not only passed that test but exceeded expectations.

Playing with a talented New Light Disciples team, Thomas felt good getting back on the court with a talented group.

'It honestly felt good getting back out there to showcase what I got,' he told Phenom Hoops.' 'I was out for the whole basketball season due to a torn ACL and meniscus.' Playing at the Phenom Hoops events really put my name out there basketball-wise.' This summer has gone great for me, I have picked up a lot of interest from schools around the country.' It feels good to finally show people that I can actually compete at a high level.'

After his performances at Phenom Hoops' events, scouts and coaches started to see just exactly what Thomas can provide on the floor and he hopes that it can carry over in the upcoming season.

'(It showed) that I really can score the ball at all three levels, as well as sharing the ball with my teammates,' Thomas said.' 'Most coaches have said they loved my motor on both sides of the court and I have that dog mentality on the court.' Also, I play with a lot of confidence on the court.'

With his play, programs like East Carolina, Virginia Tech, Appalachian State, NCCU, Elon, Campbell, Mars Hill, and Lees-McRae have all expressed interest.' With those interests piling up, East Carolina is the only school he has unofficially visited so far.

'I love what Coach Dooley and his coaching staff are doing for the program.' I loved the campus and facilities on campus.' It was a great experience for me and my family.'

Right now, Thomas has a visit planned to Mars Hill on September 7th and more could be on the way.' But one thing can be said, Thomas has put his name out there as one to watch for the Class of 2021, especially after bouncing back this summer in a big way.
