High Point continues to rack in North Carolina talent, securing another target on Wednesday in 2020 Alex Holt.  The big man certainly made his mark on the court, especially in his senior season. At Lexington high, he averaged 17 points and 17 rebounds, showing that he can be a dominant force in the paint.

Holt's journey has been an interesting one, as he was relatively unknown not long ago to now being one of the biggest double-double machines in the state.  He is a strong, poised, and crafty around the rim, showing strong hands and instincts on the glass.  Holt can finish with either hand and plays smart and with patience on the floor, having a great understanding for the game.

Our own Rick Lewis had this to say recently about Holt last June:

What a story! In speaking with Team Phoenix head coach Ricky Brown, Alex Holt had tried out for two other local/regional travel ball teams only to be cut. Talk about a gift landing in one's lap. Holt is a wide-bodied power forward/post player that has an excellent feel for the game. He has tremendous footwork and passer friendly hands and usually sports a double-double in each and every game. Holt has the unique ability to carve out space and establish deep low post position where he is able to finish with high efficiency. In addition, Holt has good overall basketball fundaments and is excellent in boxing out on the defensive end of the court. Holt currently has offers from Presbyterian and Morehead State. Holt's play this spring has enabled him to land at our no. 33 spot in our latest June 2020 rankings. Big men develop later and this has been the case with Holt. Look for Holt to continue his improvement on the court which will translate into more offers this July.'

Now, he will be joining a class that also includes Zack Austin, Ahmil Flowers, and Bryson Childress; a quite impressive class of players around the region.
