Javarzia Belton checks off a lot of boxes when you look at him on the court.  He brings incredible strength and size to the floor immediately, but after a year in which he has battled the injury bug, he is looking to show just what he is capable of doing at the next level.

On Wednesday, he announced that he would be committing to Southern Miss, a program that recently offered him within the last month.

'I like what Coach Ladner sees in me and what he thinks I can turn out to be,' Belton told Phenom Hoops.  'They said, from Day 1, the program can get me as a player that can play huge minutes or even a starter.  And if I put in the work, he thinks I'll play professionally.'

Playing at Moravian Prep, Belton was able to showcase just what he is capable of being early on in the season.  He brings a huge physical presence that can impact the game on both ends of the floor, score well around the basket, and can get after it on the boards.

With some lingering injuries though, Belton is getting prepared this offseason and summer, looking to get back healthy and ready to rock at his new program.

'I'm trying to get healthy; my knee is still bothering me but I want to get healthy, keep working, get less stiff, and get in the best shape I can before going off to college.'
