Christian Brown has been around and on display with Phenom Hoop Report for several years now and on Friday afternoon, the 2019 6’7 prospect made his decision on his future and committed to Georgia.
From when we first watched him as a freshman, Phenom Hoops knew that this kid was meant to be a big name and play on the big stage. Now, years later, he announced that he would become a Bulldog and play under head coach Tom Crean.
Brown is a unique blend of talent and athleticism, as is already considered one of the best athletics in his class with his bounce on both ends of the court. Offensively, he uses his frame, his length, and his ability to play inside and out to create mismatches against any opponent.
Phenom Hoop’s analyst Jamie Shaw was one of the first that saw him, as he said this back in 2015.
“Freshman Christian Brown has special written all over him. He is gifted with easy athleticism put on a long, broad shouldered 6’7” frame. He has the ability to handle in the half court, the confidence to speak up in the huddle, and most impressively the work ethic to improve each time on the court. Brown works his tail off, and is a national level Top 100 type recruit. The sky is the limit for this one.”
Fast-forward to today and watching him all year long at Oak Hill, Brown has had an impressive season and has continued to improve his overall game. Here is what Phenom Hoop’s Rick Lewis said about him not long ago in November.
“It’s no secret the move to Christian Brown has proved unbelievable dividends as he may be playing some of his best basketball to date. The high-flying wing has diversified his game and has become a better all-around player. Known mostly for his straight line drives and transition game, Brown has become a reliable and go to scorer in the half court setting.”
Brown will for sure bring energy, explosiveness, and a versatile player to Georgia next season. Add that now to an impressive 2019 recruiting class that already includes Anthony Edwards, Jaykwon Walton, and Toumani Camara, the Bulldogs are already securing one of the top recruiting classes.
