Today's 5 to Know
Phenom's Queen City Middle School Showcase

What a great day of basketball. The players, the teams, the fans everyone came alive and the gym was rocking at times. With named programs like Team United, Team Loaded, Upward Stars, Team Charlotte and NC Red Storm.

There were some great local teams who played great team basketball like Tournament Time out of West Virginia, Capital City Vipers out of South Carolina and the Davie County Thunder out of Winston-Salem all were a joy to watch and won.

Tomorrow we start bracket play and that is going to be incredibly interesting. With the loser go home method every single game is exciting!!

Here are today's standouts at Kennedy Middle School

6'5' 2022 Julian Phillips
Capital City Vipers (Columbia, SC)

Phillips is long and is incredibly productive and active. He has great hands and touch and he finished everything within 15 feet of the basket. Phillips finished with 40 points and 19 rebounds in the game we watched him and displayed a full arsenal that as he fills out he should trend as a national level type recruit.

6'4' 2022 Jalen Hood-Schifino
Team Charlotte (Charlotte, NC)

Hood-Schifino is a true point guard, which is impressive that as an 8th grader he is often-times one of the tallest players on the floor. He has excellent vision and is able really change pace and cut angles making himself even more effective. Hood-Schifino is a top 100 type prospect and should be known nationally.

6'5' 2022 Jamar Williams
Upward Stars (South Carolina)

Williams is long and very active. He has great hands with good athleticism and ball skills. He lined up all over the floor, showing ability from the wing, the high post and in the short corner. His brother is Longwood signee Jaron Williams and it looks like Jamar is tracking in the same D1 vain.

5'10' 2022 Jaden Newman
Team Loaded NC (North Carolina)

Newman is an absolute blur with the ball. But he is not all out speed all the time, he changes pace very well and gets where he wants. He is already an elite level point guard and among the nations best, our Rick Lewis likens Newman to Devon Dotson and there is a lot to that. Top 100, etc'type prospect.

5'11' 2022 Lanice Hedgepeth
NC Red Storm (Raleigh, NC)

Hedgepeth just goes out and makes plays. He is an absolute bullet with the ball in his hands, but it is on defense that he really shines. He has a nose for the basketball all across the floor and he seems to come up with every 50-50 ball. The lefty is a supreme athlete, finishing at and above the rim, he is a winner.
