Phenom Hoop Report: NC Phenom Hoop Report Part 8

In today’s issue we will take a close look at Part 8 of the NC Phenom 150 Evaluation Camp. Over 30 division I prospects attended this event and wanted to give a thorough and detailed look at the below players.

Player: 6’0 Jahliel Misenheimer
Hometown: Concord, NC
School: Concord
Class: 2012
Evaluation
: Jahliel is a speedy and quick PG that is really good at getting his teammates involved in the game. He is very unselfish and has strong physical attributes. He has excellent footwork and can get into the lane easily, but more importantly Jahliel was solid defensively by showcasing his strong lateral quickness. Jahliel should look at attending a Prep School or looking at D2 or NAIA schools. His blend of athleticism and PG skills should garnish interest at the collegiate level.

Player: 6’2 Khalil Vance
Hometown: Greensboro, NC
School: Dudley
Class: 2013
Evaluation
: Khalil was a tireless and relentless worker in his games at camp.  He played to his ability and showcased his unselfish team play and shared the ball which is usually non-existence in camp setting. His hustle was one of his strongest attributes. He was impressive on the defensive end of the court and has excellent quickness and footwork. The next step in his development is to improve his perimeter skills such as ball handling and shooting.

Player: 6’1 Roger Thomas
Hometown: Lenoir, NC
School: Hibriten
Class: 2012
Evaluation
: Roger is a solid athlete that has the ability to become a solid D2 or NAIA player if he sets his mind to it. He has solid fundamentals and has nice shooting mechanics on his jumper. Defensively, he did an excellent job of on the ball defense. The big question for Roger is his determination and if he wishes to pursue playing at the next level.

Player: 6’0 Scott Meredith
Hometown: Pilot Mountain
School: East Surry
Class: 2014
Evaluation
: Scott is just an “old school” basketball player. He has an excellent skill set with outstanding fundamentals. He can do a lot of thing really well. He has advanced ball handling skills and is adequate passer. His unselfish play accompanied with the ability to shoot from the perimeter exemplified why he is such a good all around player. He has been well coaches in high school and should be an impact player for many years to come. He is the type of player you enjoy watching and other players enjoy playing with!

Player: 6’8 Casey Webber
Hometown: Weddington, NC
School: Weddington
Class: 2014
Evaluation
: One of the bigger players in the state for his age/grade. Like many young big men, his size/height is a few years ahead of his overall basketball development.  He has a great attitude and work ethic and could easily develop into a D1 prospect if he continues to work on his game in the off season. He does possess the right attitude and once his skill catches up with his potential, he will have many looks from colleges at the next level.

Player: 6’0 Joseph Bryant
Hometown: Greensboro
School: Ragsdale
Class: 2013
Evaluation
: Joseph is a solid all around player that is fundamentally sound. While he doesn’t do any one thing great, he does a lot of little things really well. He has good court vision and basketball IQ and plays within the framework of the game. He doesn’t try to force things or do things that he is not comfortable doing. He is a low risk player and very seldom makes mistakes while running the team. The next step for Joseph is to become more aggressive on both ends of the court.

Player: 6’1 Sterling Holland
Hometown: Jamestown, NC
School: Ragsdale
Class: 2014
Evaluation
: Sterling was one of the hardest working players at camp. He has a strong desire to be the best player possible and his attitude and work ethic was second to none. He has solid fundamentals, basketball IQ and adequate athleticism, but what separates Sterling from his peers is his ability to play hard! Besides playing hard, he always plays smart and his decision making is above average. While many players tend to play one end of the court (offensive) Sterling took pride in his defense. He has quick feet and works equally work defensively as he does offensively. He was a pure joy to watch and is a coach’s dream.

Player: 5’7 Khris Dardin
Hometown: Morganton, NC
School: Freedom
Class: 2014
Evaluation
: Khris is an undersized PG that doesn’t allow is size to be a negative. He plays hard and gives 100% effort 100% of the time and he has been well schooled in the pre-requisites of being a true pass first PG. He runs the team effectively and is eager to get his teammates involved, but will also use his quickness to become an important attribute on the defensive end of the court.

Player: 5’9 Hunter Caldwell
Hometown: Denver, NC
School: North Lincoln HS
Class: 2013
Evaluation
: Hunter enjoyed a solid camp performance and showcased his ability to be a great team player. His strongest attribute is his ability to shoot the basketball. He understands the game really well and his challenge is to become more advanced in his ball handling ability. At his size, he will project as a PG and it is important to refine and fine tune his PG and perimeter skills. He has the right attitude and with continued hard work could project as a solid D2 or NAIA prospect.

Player: 5’9 Jordan Harris
Hometown: Greensboro, NC
School: Dudley
Class: 2013
Evaluation
: A solid PG that does have good athleticism with good ball handling skills. His strongest attributes are his ability to penetrate by beating defenders off the dribble. He does finish well for his size/position and has good court vision. He plays hard and plays to his ability. The next step in his development is to continue working on his fundamentals and PG skills.

Player: 5’8 Donald Little
Hometown: Greenville, NC
School: DH Conley
Class: 2015
Evaluation
: Donald’s strongest attribute is his strong passion and high motor. He simply plays the game extremely hard and that is the one key ingredient in being a strong competitor. With his size, he will project as a PG thus he needs to enhance his ball handling and passing skills to maximize his potential. We really liked his desire and passion.

Player: 5’8 Rick Mack
Hometown: High Point, NC
School: High Point Christian
Class: 2014
Evaluation: Rick has outstanding speed and quickness and these physical attributes are his strongest qualities. He has the ability to be a disruptive force on the defensive end of the court. Offensively, he uses his cat like quickness to easily penetrate and get into the lane. That being said, he will need to develop certain offensive moves such as the tear drop floater to offset his size. In addition, he needs to work on a consistent midrange and perimeter shot to enhance his offensive skill set. If he can become a more efficient shooter that will only help him become a more diversified player which is important as he moved into his high school career.

Player: 6’1 Austin Boyd
Hometown: Clayton, NC
School: Clayton MS
Class: 2016
Evaluation
: Austin has really good size for his age/grade, but more importantly he understands the game. We really like his fundamentals and basketball IQ. He has the right approach to his game. His attitude and work ethic is advanced for someone this young. He is poised and could easily become one of the better players in the state for his class if he continues to work hard. Austin had an outstanding overall performance at camp.

Player: 6’0 Jonathan Green
Hometown: Davidson, NC
School: William Hough
Class: 2014
Evaluation
: Jonathan had a solid camp and played to his potential. He has average skills and abilities currently and will need to spend ample time in the gym enhancing his perimeter skills. At 6’0, he will either play the PG or SG position in high school. It is important to work on fundamentals during the off season and work in the weight room getting bigger and stronger.

Player: 5’8 Austin Morris
Hometown: Asheville
School: Ashville Catholic
Class: 2016
Evaluation
: Austin is a solid player for his age/grade. He has a good understanding of the game and has a nice skill set for his position. He does make solid decisions and his court vision and basketball IQ are strong attributes. As he grows and develops, he will need to speed quality time in the weight room to get bigger and stronger which will also help him in his foot speed and lateral quickness.

Player: 5’7 Blan Hodges
Hometown: Taylorsville, NC
School: Alexander Middle
Class: 2017
Evaluation
: Blan is a smart and heady PG with advanced ball handling skills for his age/grade. He is the ultimate team player and does a nice job of getting his teammates involved in the offense. He is a true pass first PG and has good court vision. He seems to always have his head up looking for open teammates. He is a hard worker and has made great gains in his development. The next step in his overall success is becoming physically stronger which will come with age and maturity.

Player: 5’9 Austin Wooten
Hometown: Statesville, NC
School: East Alexander MS
Class: 2017
Evaluation
: Austin is a fundamentally sound player with strong offensive skills. He is a solid scorer and finds ways to get open and take advantage of transition points. He has an overall good understanding of the game and has made nice improvements in his game. The next step in his development is to improve his lateral quickness and athleticism.

Player: 5’3 Gregory Parham II
Hometown: Richmond, VA
School: Lucille Brown MS
Class: 2017
Evaluation
:  Gregory was one of the smaller players at the camp. He has a great attitude and work ethic and is willing to listen to improve and get better. He has a good understanding of the game and has a generally high basketball IQ. His court vision and unselfish play are two of his strongest attributes currently. The next step in his development is to become more active and aggressive on the court. Remember when you are one of the smaller guys on the court, you cannot be passive.
