Towson picked up their third commitment when 6’ lead guard Byron Hawkins chose Towson on today. The newly re classed (back to his original 2014) Hawkins took a visit over to the local school and felt it was the best place for him to be.
What Hawkins Says:
“My visit was just so great and I really enjoyed my time there with the team, and the school was so fun. I have a lot of faith in Coach Skerry and the staff, so that helped.”
On How He Will Be Used:
“They plan on using me as a primary ball handler. As someone who will push the ball, make plays happen, drop dimes, and score.”
What Towson is Getting with Hawkins:
Hawkins is an attacking lead guard. He heads straight to the basket, putting the defense on its heels. He can shoot the ball to range both off the dribble and the catch. Hawkins has active hands on defense.
Who Hawkins Chose Towson Over:
Hawkins had Towson in a final grouping that included Garner Webb and East Carolina. Hawkins took his first official to Towson this weekend, and went ahead and committed. Was said Towson was his long time favorite.
What is next for Towson:
Hawkins is Towson’s third perimeter commitment in the 2014 class. He joins 6’5 Maryland Wing (and DC Assault teammate) Mike Morsell and 6’5 Maryland shooting guard Allen Costley.
