NC Phenom 150 Session 1

Team 8 Evaluations

Coach:' Donovan Perry'

No. 8 5'7 '20 Jacob Johnston (Oak Grove HS, Winston-Salem, NC)

Jacob is a fundamentally sound guard that plays with a lot of basketball IQ. He is the type of player that goes out and does anything that the team needs. Without question, Jacob embraces the team concept and plays an unselfish brand of basketball.' We were impressed with his defensive tenacity as he puts a lot of effort on the defensive end of the court. While he only averaged 4.0 PPG, his overall effort (especially on defense) earned him a game MVP vote. While he didn't take a lot of shots, he has good shooting mechanics and form. The next step in his development is to improve his shot off the dribble. That will make him a more effective all around player.

No. 29 5'10 '21 Collin O'Sullivan (Northwood HS, Apex, NC)

Coach Perry stated, 'Collin O'Sullivan was one of the most coachable players he has coached.' That alone speaks tremendous volume. Collin started off slow in the first game, but really picked it up in the last two games. He has solid shooting mechanics and can really shoot it from deep. In addition, he was best in a 'catch and shoot' situation. Defensively, Collin has been well coached in team defensive principles and understands position defense. The next step in his development is to get physically stronger that will enable him to be quicker and more athletic.

No. 44 5'11 '21 Ryan Roberts (Burlington Christian, Graham, NC)

Ryan demonstrated an excellent attitude and work ethic throughout the day. He went hard in the stations and drills and did the same in game situations. Ryan has good ball handling skills and was a willing passer. He played excellent team basketball and was very unselfish on the court. Ryan prefers to shoot more off the catch than to create his own shot off the dribble and was more effective with the midrange jumper. The next step in his development is to get physical stronger and work on shooting off the dribble.

No. 65 6'0 '19 Landon Sutton (High Point Christian, Oak Ridge, NC)

Without question, Landon Sutton is one of the most improved players in the state. He is a high IQ PG that has excellent court vision and passing ability. Toughness is his calling card and has a very good handle with lots of combination dribbles. He is very hard to keep out of the paint with his crafty moves. Landon has the ability to get to his spots on the floor and create for his teammates as well as himself. Landon has an advanced skill set that should garnish him serious collegiate interest. The next step is to get physically stronger that will only enhance him college opportunities. Landon averaged 13.7 PPG and earned one game MVP vote.

No. 81 6'1 '19 Damien Brown (Calvary Day, Jamestown, NC)

Damien exemplified leadership at its best. He had an amazing attitude and was simply a great kid to coach. Damien rebounds the ball extremely well for his size. While he is only listed at 6'1, Damien has lengthy arms and good athleticism that allows him to play much taller than his listed height. He had a nose for the ball and had a knack for securing rebounds on both ends of the court. More importantly, he was always encouraging his teammates on and off the court. While Damien didn't score a lot of points, he definitely caught our attention with this winning ways.

No. 102 6'2 '19 John Bean (East Lincoln HS, Lincolnton, NC)

John Bean simply gets it! He understands the value of being a great teammate and his attitude and terrific work ethic was on full display. First of all, John is a tireless worker on the court. He went 100% in stations/drills and in his games. He affects the game in so many different ways. John can defend multiple positions, but is always encouraging and positive to his teammates. While John only averaged 4.7 PPG, his hustle, attitude, and overall team play earned him two game MVP votes. While he didn't' score a lot of points, John does have a really good looking jump shot and can score with the midrange out to the 3-point line.

No. 117 6'2 20 Perez Bowser (Arborbrook Christian, Gastonia, NC)

There may have not been a quicker/faster guard in attendance. To put it mildly, Perez Bowser is lightning fast with the ball in his hands. He can get from one end of the court as quick as anyone we have seen in quite some time. Perez has very good handles and 3-point shot. While he averaged 11.0 PPG, he is a willing passer and shared the basketball nicely with his teammates. On the defensive side of the ball, Perez is a lock down defender. He likes to pick his opponent up the entire 94 feet. Perez has the quickness and athleticism to be an elite level defender. Perez needs to continue to work on his midrange game. Without question, Perez has all the physical attributes that translate nicely at the next level.

No. 138 6'3 '19 Colin Radcliffe (Richlands HS, Richlands, NC)

Collin Radcliffe is simply a really good all around player. First of all, he can guard and play multiple positions. He is best at scoring off the catch and does a good job of getting his feet planted and set prior to receiving the ball. More importantly, Collin is a very coachable young man and great teammate. He does a lot of little things well on the court and many things that don't always show up in the box score. The next step in his development is to continue working on getting stronger and creating his own shot off the dribble.

No. 153 6'4 '18 Patrick Scott (Independence HS, Charlotte, NC)

Patrick is a physically strong player that plays extremely hard and with a high motor. He played equally hard on both ends of the court and did a terrific job of rebounding. Patrick averaged 11.7 PPG and earned two game MVP votes and was selected to the ALL CAMP TEAM. Patrick impressed us with his strength and ability to rebound and defend throughout the day. Rarely, did he take plays off and exhibited a tremendous work ethic which was quite infectious. Coach Perry stated, 'Patrick is a great teammate and player to coach.'

No. 174 6'7 '21 Cooper Land (Middle Creek HS, Holly Springs, NC)

With Cooper Land, he is not quite the finished product yet, it is only natural for players his height and age. He has good length and a 'willing and wanting' attitude and work ethic. We were impressed with his tireless approach to working hard to establish low post position. He called for the ball and was a willing passer out of the post. If he didn't have a good shot, Cooper quickly made an outlet pass and re-established low post position. In addition, we were impressed with his boxing out technique and stays on his feet, which is very important for a young player with his height. The next step in his development is to get physically stronger. If he continues to work on his game and spend time in the weight room, he can be a legit D1 prospect.
