Reebok Showdown: Here’s what they are saying

Teams from all over the Southeast came to the Reebok Showdown and coaches and players were talking about it. Don’t take our word for it. Here’s what they are saying about our event.

Good afternoon Mr. Lewis,

Thank you for allowing us to participate in your first Reebok Showcase Tournament. The tournament was outstanding!!! It was very competitive and more importantly well organized. Out of my 8 years of coaching AAU/Showcase basketball I have never had access to the game schedule all most a week in advance. That was fantastic. It was great having everything under one roof versus having to travel all over Forsyth County. Forget a slam dunk, you hit a 3-pointer from way downtown at the buzzer. Keep it consistent and you will knock off a lot of the other showcase tournaments. Please let me know if you ever need any assistance in the future. When I am not coaching AAU or high school basketball I am officiating.

Rick,

Thanks again for having us out there the other weekend. That Team Loaded game was a war and we had a disappointing afternoon but I thought the weekend was ran better than anything we’ve been a part of all summer.

Great event Rick, you did a great job (you and your Staff) I look forward to participating in other events you hold. Can you please send me a list of camps or tournaments you have coming up this summer. I attached a recap of how I felt my team did this weekend, plus highlighted a couple of players that played good last weekend. A couple of players that didn’t perform as well last weekend but I sure they will be making impacts in other tournaments this summer. Great event and I look forward to communicating with you more in the near future.

Hey Coach,

The team, coaches and parents all agree, your tournament was awesome.  So well organized, timely, great competition, location, etc.  Just a great weekend of great basketball.

Thank you for thinking of us and we hope you do again!

What they are saying about Rick Lewis and the Phenom Hoop Report

We believe our camps and our programs are the best in the country. But don’t take our word for it. Have a look at what players, parents, coaches and others have to say about our camps.

Camp Comments

Our son, Colton, began attending Rick Lewis’ Jr. Phenom camp in 6th grade.  We originally started signing him up for the “exposure”, but quickly realized there was so much more to these camps than that.  Every evaluation that Colton has ever received from Rick and the coaches he has had at the Phenom camps were a teaching tool/motivation for his development as a player (many of them ended up taped to his bedroom door as a reminder of what he was working toward).  He took them very seriously and in the months between each camp, he would work on refining the skills that were listed as “needs improvement.”  Rick was always truthful with Colton, but even as he listed things he needed to work on, he backed that up with praise of the things that he already did well and were looking good!  In the early camps Colton was never one that was written about by the scouts in attendance, but last year, after hard work, determination and encouragement from Rick and others, Colton worked his way into being written about consistently by scouts across the state of NC, and is being heavily recruited by Division 1 Mid Major colleges.  Our family motto for Colton’s basketball career was a quote we first heard from Rick, “It’s not about where you start, but where you finish.”  Our family highly recommends the Evaluation Camps run by Rick Lewis.  If your son will listen to the feedback given by Rick and his coaches, and work hard on those things, they can’t help but become a better basketball player. – Ava Bishop

Thanks for tweeting about my son (Justin) this weekend at the Rumble tournament. Your comments really made his weekend! He was so excited when he saw you there. You are a role model and he really looks up to you. Ever since he had the opportunity to meet Tyler in April at the camp he has been Tyler’s biggest fan also. I’m sure you are aware but what you do is wonderful for these young men, you are truly impacting their lives in a very positive way. Ever since my son came to your phenom camp, he has been working twice as hard on his game and his attitude has improved a lot as well. He is also much more dedicated and motivated too. I truly appreciate you and what you do. Thanks again! Be blessed, Justin Phillips

Chris Cheek: Just wanted to let you know I thought the camp was great! My son enjoyed himself as well as myself. I hope this camp continues to grow and succeeds in impacting young men lives in basketball.

Craig Largent: Good morning Coach! First off! I want to thank you again for letting me be involved with wonderful event! My son loved it and he really enjoyed the playing against the competition that the event attracted

Brian Darden: Just want to say thanks again for having us at your camp. I thought it was run very well and it’s always fun being in the coach’s box. Wish you and your family the best and I pray that Tyler achieves all he desires in the game of basketball/life. As Coach Daniels always tells me just stay the course with your labor of love for your son because you will affect not only his life but many others as well in a positive way.

Erik Hooks: Thank you for having Brandon at your camp this past weekend. Everything was well organized and Brandon had a very positive experience. He is continuing to work hard in the classroom and on the court. If you have any words of wisdom that will assist Brandon in becoming the type of player he strives to be, they will be well received and appreciated. Thank you again.

Gail Reinemund: I hope you’re recovering from the busy Phenom Camp weekend. Thanks so much for putting on a good tournament and giving all of these guys great experience, regardless of their level or age. Hope you felt it was successful and worthwhile.

Harry Burton: Rick you are first class person. The game between 5 and 7 didn’t cause us any grief. Marcus had already said that he had a good time. Most importantly he had fun with the coaches and the players on his team. By far the most fun exposure camp he’s attended. The others he had been too he held back for whatever reason.

James Simmons: I also appreciated that the scout watched the middle school group on Sunday; sometimes the high school kids get all of the scout time.

James Daniel: Thanks, the boys had a good time at your camp.

Mark Cook: Much thanks to you and your great organization for the experience!

Teronda McNeil: Thank you. I must say that so far this has been one of the most organized and informative events that we have participated in. We are excited and looking forward to being a part of it.

Mike Praeger: Rick – Just wanted to pass along a note congratulating you on running a terrific camp this weekend. Well organized and we enjoyed the venue.

Katrina Sams: Just following up with an AAR (After Action Review). My son enjoyed the competition, both physically and mentally this past weekend. The staff working the event remained professional and demonstrated great hospitality. We look forward to any future events with your organization. Will there be a write up on the event? If so, would you direct me to the links? Once again thanks!

Ty White: Rick, this is the best event our kids have participated in. It was professional and well organized. Great job!

“Rick Lewis and his staff run a great skills camp. My son attended the camp, and has received intense individual skill instruction that was the value of playing an entire season of team basketball. He is not only a better player, he is a more confident one having completed Rick’s curriculum. I would highly recommend Rick’s skills camp.”

Rick, this was by far one of the best camps I have attended, and I have been to many. All the games were on time, and the ref’s done a great job. Your staff were very polite, and helpful.
Rick JOB WELL DONE.

Thanks

Hey Rick -

Great camp! Steven enjoyed it and wants to do it again next year. Thanks for the personal touch you put into it by walking around and talking with the parents.

Thanks again for a great camp!

Rick,

I would like to thank you for a fantastic camp. The camp was one of the best camps my son Christian has attended this year. Not only did hte camp run smooth and the games ran on time, the quality of the coaching staff was well as talent was plus. The number of players on the teams was a plus as well so individuals could show their best qualities.

Again, thanks again.

The North Carolina Jr. Phenom Camp is by far the best fundamentals and skills camp that we have attended in the greater Charlotte area. The coaching staff is outstanding and they really take their time teaching technique and discipline in each learned skill. But probably my favorite part of the camp is the huddle meetings that Coach Lewis has with the kids where he teaches them about Respect, Passion, and Hard work. The skills and coaching that my son has received at this camp will undoubtedly be with him for the rest of his life! If you are thinking about placing your child in a skills development camp, I highly recommend taking a look at the NC Jr. Phenom Camp.

Rick

Once again you do things first class and with a lot of thought. The way you handled the last game blow out that Jackson and Tyler had maintained that game into a controllable situation and a win win for both teams. Jackson had a great time. Thanks for all you do for the kids of NC. It is a tremendous sacrifice that you and your family give.

Rick, awesome camp, the skill level of those players were simply phenomenal. It was needed and great experience for my 11 year old who is serious about being competitive and mastering the fundamentals of basketball. Playing with peers form different ages was great…It basically let him know where his game was at even though he thought he was a decent player. The instructions prior and during camp were very informative. The coaches were very knowledgeable and professional. The cost of t-shirts were inexpensive to allow to buy more than one. I was proud to have my son a part of the jr phenom camp. Anything with Rick Lewis name on it is 1st class.

Thank you for giving us this opportunity.

Rick

I am head coach of the SAC Tigers 10U and 12U Traveling Basketball Team. Our teams have played in several tournaments through out the southeast. I have had the unique opportunity to challenge and evaluate different teams. After playing against the Flight, it was very obvious that the players were taught advance fundamental skills. The NC Flight is by far the most “fundamentally sound” team we have ever faced or seen. As a former college basketball player, I know the importance of having strong, fundamental training for my players. I feel totally confident that we have found it. I spoke with Rick several times regarding the camp. He has always been very cordial and helpful. I completely trust the guidance and trainings of Rick Lewis and The North Carolina Flight. We live 2 hours from Charlotte, and we have had several opportunities to participate in similar camps. Our organization has chosen to make the sacrifice and tranport over 50% of our team to North Carolina Flight’s Skills, Drills Camp.

Steven Rooks, SAC Tigers Head Coach

Dear Rick,

I have to write and tell you how impressed I was with your Camp Saturday. I was a bit hesitant to invest so much time and money in your camp at first, but after Saturday, Camden and I are content that it was a good decision to come. Your conditioning coach, your ball handling coach, and yourself did an excellent job working with the players. Camden’s been to several camps, and never has the learning been as marked as at your camp. Usually it’s the same, repetitive drills followed by scrimmages, with very little one-on-one instruction from the coaches. I was impressed with the level of experience and knowledge of your personnel, as well as their dedication to help each player understand the skill being taught. I look forward to watching Camden develop through this series of Saturdays.

Thanks

Cindy

My son has played with the Carolina Flight for two years now and it has been an absolute wonderful experience. The coaching staff not only teaches the kids the fundamentals of basketball, but also, the ‘fundamentals of life’. The kids are encouraged to respect, praise, and encourage one another as teammates and friends. Our coaches do not allow any ‘negative’ or ‘bad’ attitudes on the court whatsoever, which is so important for the future of our kids. They are encouraged to keep their EDUCATION 1st and the coaches respect a parent’s decision to sit their child whenever they are not progressing in school as they should. My son’s skill level has improved tremendously since becoming a part of the Carolina Flight family and he LOVES being a part of the team.
