Norcross High School senior Andre Chatfield ended his recruitment this weekend, while he was on his visit to Harvard. Thought to be the long time leader for the 6’5″ shooting guard, Chatfield says, “Harvard was the perfect fit for me.”
The Atlanta Celtics AAU Alum says that the entire team atmosphere (coaches and players) really was above and beyond everything he needed and wanted, “But honestly , Harvard gave me the best of both worlds . The coaching staff is great , I love Coach Amaker and he made me feel very comfortable and welcoming when I got there . The team is cool , and from the moment I got to campus , I got a feeling that told me Harvard was the perfect fit for me.”
Chatfield who really knows who he is as a player understands what type of system is needed for him to really best show his skill set, Harvard offered this to Chatfield, “Well , they mainly run a pass-screen away offense and at a very fast pace so I think that I’ll be able to fit right in . I like coming off screens in order to create, etc…so I really like their offense”
Chatfield goes back to speaking about Amaker and the personal touch that he was able to put on Chatfield’s recruitment, made him feel really comfortable, “Coach Amaker has been very efficient in contacting me , keeping in touch , and really making me feel like Harvard is the place to be . The fact that he came down Atlanta a few weeks ago to personally talk with me and my family meant a lot and from that moment on , I knew he was the type of person Atlanta a few weeks ago to personally talk with me and my family meant a lot and from that moment on , I knew he was the type of person that I wanted to be coached by.”
Chatfield joins 6’6 Texas wing Zach Yosher in Harvard’s 2014 class.
